Marella Cruises Red Sea & Suez Canal Scam?

I recently completed a Red Sea & Suez Canal crossing on Costa Cruises: Costa Toscana ship. This was probably one of the last cruise ships to make the crossing before cruise lines around the world collectively decided to cancel the crossings due to safety concerns… and you know what! Rightfully so as even during my cruise, at night time, the lights where dimmed to draw less attraction and the ship cruised a head at full speed at all times, just to make sure we would get out of there as soon as possible.

Every Cruise Line Cancels Red Sea Crossings

The 20+ day sailing on Costa Toscana was an absolute blast, check out my podcast if you want to hear/listen to a live audio diary! I would have totally done the same trip in reverse if it wasn‘t for the fact that Costa canceled the repositioning back to Europe. The same goes for MSC, AIDA and even TUI Cruises Mein Schiff: Literally every cruise line decided to cancel it‘s Red Sea and Suez Canal crossing and thus my total and utter shock and surprise that I randomly spotted 1 cruise line still actively selling it‘s crossing this April. (It blows my mind)

Marella Cruises Read Sea Cruise is still for sale

Here, I am.. casually scrolling the TUI Cruises Marella website, on the hunt for an Epic Cruise Deal when my eye catches a very special offer:

Marella Cruises Read Sea

TUI Cruises Marella is still actively selling their Red Sea Crossing. A total price of just GBP1300 per person including flights to Oman: Absolutely crazy! And what is even more concerning next to the fact that 100s of people are looking at it: People are actually still booking this cruise when the likelihood of this being canceled is a solid 100%. So why is Marella still selling this cruise?

Is TUI Cruises Scamming it‘s customers?

You see, the one thing that comes to mind is a bit like what airlines did during covid! Selling flights, taking the cash and then canceling and delaying the refund for weeks if not months. (Or simply offering a voucher vs cash) – Could something similar be going on as well here? Another super important thing to highlight here is the fact that TUI Cruises has canceled the Mein Schiff repositioning cruises. Royal Caribbean (who owns 50% of TUI Cruises) has canceled its Red Sea crossing (World Cruise) … so why pretend that Marella Discovery 2 is actually going to make this sailing?

Please Don‘t Book Marella Discovery 2 Red Sea

Do yourself a favor. Please don‘t book. Yes you can have a look at the cruise: HERE. But don’t for a second book it! If anything, send Marella an email/message asking them why they are still selling this!

It is absolutely irresponsible in every way shape or form. With that being said, this PSA is officially over, we can get back to searching for EpicCruiseDeals once again!
